Voxshell × CDS: From Generative Concept to Certified Simulation Mesh in One Workflow
Voxshell has signed a Software Distribution Partnership Agreement with Cognitive Design Systems (CDS), making ChopMesh available to CDS customers across aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial sectors.
CDS's Cognitive Design platform covers concept exploration end-to-end: geometry generation, meshless FEA simulation, and design space exploration — all without requiring engineers to leave the platform or preprocess their models. The intent is continuous mechanical and thermal performance feedback on every concept variant.
But selecting a concept is not the end of the workflow. Downstream, dedicated simulation teams must validate the design inside certified solver environments — Ansys, Abaqus, Nastran — formally qualified within the organization's development process. That transition demands a high-quality mesh compatible with the target solver. Legacy tools typically require hours of manual geometry cleanup to get there.
ChopMesh eliminates that gap. Using implicit signed distance technology, it converts CDS-generated geometry directly into simulation-ready meshes — fully automatic, no geometry loss, no manual reconstruction. Desktop meshing targets under five minutes. For large-scale studies, ChopMesh scales on HPC clusters.
For simulation engineers already using ChopMesh, this partnership opens a direct upstream path to generative concept exploration. Designs from CDS's Cognitive Design platform flow straight into ChopMesh for certified-solver meshing with no intermediate cleanup — no STL repair, no surface wrapping, no manual defeaturing. The result is a validated, solver-ready mesh in minutes instead of hours.
For CDS customers, it addresses the most persistent bottleneck in the concept-to-simulation chain: high-quality meshing of complex generative geometries, at the level required for mechanical, thermal, thermo-mechanical, and fluid (CFD and CHT) simulation.
